
Removal & Installation (Floor Shift)
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove shift lever handle. Disassemble console as necessary for access to
shift control assembly. Disconnect park lock cable, shift control cable and electrical connectors. Remove shift
control assembly. Remove interlock solenoid. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten shift control
assembly mounting nuts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 N.m).
PIVOT & PULSE SWITCH
Removal & Installation
Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove upper cover. See UPPER & LOWER COVER
and wire harness strap. Disconnect electrical connector. Remove mounting screws. Remove pivot and pulse
switch assembly. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten mounting screws to 46 INCH lbs. (5.2 N.m).
SIR COIL ASSEMBLY
Removal & Installation
Turn wheels to straight ahead position. Turn ignition switch to OFF-LOCK position. Remove steering wheel.
See STEERING WHEEL. Remove upper cover. See UPPER & LOWER COVER . Remove SIR coil
retaining ring. Remove wire restraint clip, tie wrap and wire harness strap. Remove SIR coil assembly. To
install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure wheels and SIR coil assembly are centered.
TURN SIGNAL & COMBINATION SWITCH
Removal & Installation
1. Remove steering wheel. See STEERING WHEEL. Remove upper and lower cover. See UPPER &
LOWER COVER
. Disconnect steering column electrical connector. Remove tie wraps and wire harness
strap securing turn signal and combination switch harness. On column shift, disconnect interlock solenoid
electrical connector.
2. On floor shift, disconnect pivot and pulse switch electrical connector. On all models, remove Gray and
Black turn signal and combination switch connectors from column connector. Remove 17-way secondary
lock from Gray connector and disconnect pass key terminals (if equipped), from cavities 16 and 17. See
Fig. 2 . Remove mounting screws and turn signal and combination switch assembly.
3. To install, compress electrical contact with small screwdriver while moving turn signal and combination
switch into position. Ensure electrical contact rests on cancelling cam. To complete installation, reverse
removal procedure. Tighten mounting screws to 46 INCH lbs. (5.2 N.m).
IGNITION & KEY ALARM SWITCH ASSEMBLY
Removal & Installation
1. Remove upper and lower cover. See UPPER & LOWER COVER . Disconnect steering column
electrical connector. Remove Gray and Black turn signal and combination switch connectors from
