Section 3 – Operating the System
Installing the Printer Drivers onto the Computer
The printer drivers are located on the “XPS-ProMail CD” that was included with your printer.
When you place the CD in your drive, a Menu should open. Click on “Install Drivers” to install
the printer drivers. A “driver installation wizard” will open to walk you through the steps of
installing the driver.
NOTICE: To simply driver installation; the printer drivers should be installed onto the computer,
before
attaching the printer to the computer and powering the printer on.
Satori Printer Driver Compatibility:
- Windows 98/2000/XP/VISTA and Windows 7
- 32 bit (x86) and 64 bit (x64) systems are supported
Driver Install Notes:
When initially installing the printer driver, leave the port selection at default (LPT1:), even if you don't
have an LPTport on your computer.
Don't connect the printer to the computer’s USB port until you have the printer driver successfully
installed. See “Installing the Printer Drivers” section.
Tip: If you have already mistakenly connected the printer to the computer and attempted to send data
to the printer, but you are not
getting any response from the printer, then you should:
- Delete all print jobs (documents) in the computer’s printer queue
- Reboot your computer
- Power the printer off/on
- Start from Step 2 below
USB Port Selection and Verification Process
If you are connecting the printer to the computer via its USB port, please use the following procedure to
verify that the proper USB port choice was made before you attempt to print
.
Note: This method is not valid for Parallel (LPT) port users.
1. After the printer driver has been successfully installed on your computer; connect the printer to
the computer, using a USB cable, and turn the printer on.
If the printer has never been connected to the computer before; you will get the "found new
hardware", "installing new hardware" messages at this time.
After Windows finishes installing new hardware, it should give the message that "The hardware
has been installed successfully...".
Note: If the printer had been connected to your computer in the past, and you are reconnecting
the printer, you may not see this message.
2. From the “printers”, or “devices and printers”, folder; locate and open the printer driver’s
properties. This can be done by right clicking on the printer driver and selecting “printer
properties”.
3. Click on the “Ports” tab and locate the highest numbered USB selection choice in the list. If you
have more than one USB choice (normally labeled as “USB001”, “USB002”, USB003 etc...),
select the highest numbered USB choice (in this case“USB03”).
Then click on Apply.
