Catwalk photography brings with it the excitement
of the unexpected – you never know what's going
to come out of each shot. I need to react instantly
to surprise situations, so there isn't a lot of time for
composition. Having a camera with excellent low
light capabilities and focus tracking means that I can
make the most of the time I do have. White balance
settings that accurately respond to each lighting
environment allow me to achieve the correct colour
when shooting, rather than having to adjust in post
production. The image quality is on par if not
superior to film, and the ability to preview shots and
get them to the client on very tight deadlines is a big
bonus. I’ve been through the entire Canon digital
range since the very beginning and have witnessed
a dramatic evolution. With digital there has always
been two systems – a high-quality system and
a high-speed system. That Canon has managed
to integrate the two is just superb.

The Result Is Clear.
Whether changing Picture Style
parameters, setting custom functions
or reviewing images, the large
LCD screens of the EOS 5D and
EOS-1D Mark II N are designed with
the professional in mind. Measuring
2.5" with a resolution of 230,000
pixels, the LCD allows for larger image
playback with sharp, crisp detail.
Images can also be viewed from a far
greater angle (170°) than conventional
LCD screens. The intuitive menus
feature large, easy to read text for quick
navigation to key camera settings.
The image information screen
provides an RGB histogram and
displays useful data such as the AF
points used. Magnification controls
for checking exposure and focus are
fast and fluid. Accessing images is
equally fast with a jump function that
allows photographers to jump images
in increments of 10 or 100.
