Designed to work with all EX Speedlite flash units, the E-TTL II flash algorithm provides photographers
with consistently accurate flash metering, even with tricky subjects and ambient lighting conditions.
With previous systems, recomposing a shot after locking focus could occasionally result in incorrect
exposure. E-TTL II remedies this by ignoring the active focusing point. Instead, distance information
(where applicable) and pre-flash information are evaluated from multiple metering zones immediately
before the exposure occurs. To achieve accurate measurement in problematic environments, the system
gives less weight to readings from reflective objects in the scene – such as a mirror, white china, or a
bride's wedding dress. E-TTL II gives photographers the confidence of accurate flash exposure in scenes
that confuse conventional metering systems.
