Key Features
Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren (LATCH) — help to secure a child
safety seat. Tether straps are provided by child safety seat manufacturer.
SecuriLock
®
Passive Anti-theft System — designed to help prevent the engine
from being started unless a coded key programmed to your vehicle is used.
Unibody Construction with Crumple Zones — integrates the frame
and body into one structure for reduced weight and optimum
passenger space.
Side Door Intrusion Beams — steel beams in the side doors add structural
stability, absorb energy and help reduce passenger compartment intrusion
in certain side impacts.
Remote Keyless Entry System — provides an added level of convenience
and security for Escape customers.
Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) — monitors tire pressure and alerts
drivers to low air pressure conditions.
Power Four-wheel Disc Brakes — resist brake fade and improve stopping
distance in hard-braking situations (V-6 4WD models).
Four-wheel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) — provides consistent stopping
power, and excellent braking and steering control — even under hard-
braking conditions.
Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) — registers slip between the front and
rear axle wheel speeds and controls the brake pressure levels accordingly to
optimize brake performance under all driving conditions.
Safety Package
• Safety Package includes:
– Safety Canopy
TM
System provides side-impact head
and rollover protection for front- and second-row
outboard passengers
– Dual front-seat side-impact airbags provide additional
protection for the front outboard occupants during
certain side-impact collisions
• NHTSA does not retest a vehicle for the new model year unless it has significant changes or
additions in safety features or body structure. Because Escape hasn’t changed significantly in
those areas for 2007, the previous crash test results are expected to carry over to the new model
• Learn more about crash test ratings in the 2007 Appendices Book under Safety
• Escape has an impressive level of crash performance protection
• Engineers used computer-aided engineering (CAE) to sculpt the body structure for
enhanced passenger protection
