19.2.3
e
maGEN configurations
Following are summaries of different possibilities for the physical
configuration of
e
maGEN
.
To install
e
maGEN
with up to 12 or 16 ports
You require:
•One
e
maGEN
card -- of either the Vantage Volare, Quartet or
RDSP 432 type -- in the PC for each four ports.
• One MIM on an OCD card for each four ports.
• One RS232 signaling cable, connecting the first
e
maGEN
card
to the first OCD card.
On the IVM/Serial Applications Screen (Y-I):
• Enter the location of the OCD card to which the RS232 cable is
connected.
• Enter IVM 1 in the APP 1 parameter for that location.
To solve a problem of heavy signalling traffic:
If you have installed
e
maGEN
and SMDR and your system exhibits
a problem of heavy signaling traffic, you can solve this problem by
using a second RS232 signaling cable.
This requires:
•One
e
maGEN
-PC
•Two
e
maGEN
cards installed in the PC
• Two OCD cards with sufficient MIM modules defined on them.
• Two RS232 signaling cables.
To program this configuration:
1. Use the first RS232 cable to connect the first OCD card to the
first
e
maGEN
card. On the IVM/Serial Applications Screen (Y-I)
enter the location of that OCD card and enter IVM 1 in the APP1
parameter for that row.
2. Use the second RS232 cable to connect the second OCD card to
the second
e
maGEN
card. On the IVM/Serial Applications
Screen (Y-I), enter the location of that OCD card in the second
row, for the SMDR application. Enter DBN in the APP2 parameter
for that row.
