Operation Sequence Example
This example assumes that the entire system has been properly setup to accommodate your
media, and that you will be running the system in the AUTO mode.
Refer to Section 1 – Getting Acquainted for the location of the switches referred to below.
The following example can be used to print a job in the Automatic (AUTO) Mode:
1. Make sure that all of the Emergency Stop Buttons, on all devices in the system, have
been released. The XPS-ProMail Base MASTER Power button will not turn on if any of
the Emergency Stop Buttons are depressed.
2. Press the MASTER Power button, on the XPS-ProMail Base, to turn the system ON
(green button should remain illuminate).
3. Turn the Printer power switch ON. “Printer Offline” should appear in display.
4. On the XPS-ProMail Base Control Panel set the Transport Base Mode select switch to
AUTO and the Dryer Base Mode select switch to AUTO.
Mode Switch Notes: When the XPS-ProMail Transport Base Mode switch is set for
AUTO; the speed of the Transport Base is selected by the resolution of the print and the
belt speed selected in the printer driver and or software. If you wish to run the Transport
Base at lower speeds, then what is automatically selected by the printer, then you can set
the Transport Base Mode switch to MANUAL.
IMPORTANT! Do NOT try to run the system faster than the maximum speed for the
selected print resolution or the printed image will be distorted.
5. If the XPS-ProDry 8.0 is installed, and you wish to use the dryer; set the Dryer Lamp
Power Switch (located at the bottom, right-hand side of the dryer base) to ON.
6. Set all
XPS-ProMail Base POWER switches (Transport Base, Dryer Base and
Conveyor) to ON.
Tip: Even if the optional XPS-ProDry 8.0 or TB-659 conveyor is not installed; the Dryer
Base and Conveyor POWER switches must be ON to enable the feeder control circuit.
7. Set all XPS-ProMail Base VACUUM switches (Transport Base and Dryer Base) to ON.
8. Adjust the conveyor for the desired speed.
9. When using the XPS-ProFeed Shuttle Feeder, turn the Main POWER button ON (button
illuminated), set the VACUUM switch to the ON position and then set the POWER switch
to the ON position.
When using the EasyFeed 120 or EasyFeed 200; switch the feeder Power ON and set
the Speed Control above zero.
10. Send Data from computer/software.
11. When you are ready to print, put the printer On-Line and press the Printer’s ENTER key
to begin feeding Media.
Tip: The printer can be set to automatically start the feeder, without pressing ENTER.
See the “Automatic Feed” feature under “Menu Features”.
12. To quickly stop the entire system; Press any of the Emergency Stop buttons.
13. To stop the feeder; press the printer’s ENTER key or turn off any of the POWER switches
on the XPS-ProMail Base.
