OPERATING THE SYSTEM
XPS-ProMail System Operations 4-24-14.doc 29
Using Inkjet Suitable Media
The XPS-ProMail System will print on many types of media, but some restrictions apply.
As with any inkjet printing process, the texture and type of media has a direct effect on both the
print quality and the ink drying time. It is best to test each new type of media to determine
performance levels before beginning the job.
Coated and plastic media types do not easily absorb ink and smearing may occur.
Print may appear fuzzy on very porous paper or paper with heavy fibers.
Fuzzy images can be caused by clogged or partially clogged ink cartridges, and if the
printheads are adjusted too far away from the media.
Be aware, that when printing at 600 DPI, drying time for the ink is longer than in lower
print qualities. In addition, when humidity is high, drying time is increased.
The use of a dryer will reduce drying time and help “set” the ink.
When using “Rena EasyInk Aqueous Plus” (C9050A) ink on aqueous coated stocks; the
printed media must pass under at least a 1,900 watt dryer, to help cure and set the ink.
Choosing a Suitable Ink Type for the Media:
There are different ink types (formulas) available for use with different applications (stocks).
Experiment with different ink types to see what works best with your media.
For Example: “Rena EasyInk Aqueous Plus” (C9050A) was developed for “aqueous” coated
stocks.
Other ink types are available from your Rena Systems Dealer and Rena Systems Inc.
Please see the “Supplies” section.
DO NOT USE STAPLED PIECES IN THE XPS-PROMAIL SYSTEM.
DO NOT USE PAPER- CLIPPED PIECES IN THE XPS-PROMAIL SYSTEM.
THESE METHODS OF BINDING THE MAIL PIECE WILL DAMAGE THE PRINTHEADS,
AFFECT PRINT QUALITY, AND MAY SERIOUSLY DAMAGE YOUR PRINTER.
THE RENA SYSTEMS WARRANTY POLICY WILL NOT COVER COMPONENTS DAMAGED
