ground vehicle systems
Ground-based military assets must flawlessly perform under all
conditions, whether extreme hot or cold, punishing shock and
vibration, humidity or blowing dust. In addition, the technology
systems employed must be easily upgradable to include the
latest COTS technology with fast requalification turnaround.
GE Intelligent Platforms has decades of experience in providing
just such rugged systems and modules to leading contractors for
ground vehicle systems. Our rugged systems have been used in
numerous high-profile ground vehicle programs, including:
›M1A2 Abrams tank
›MLRS
›HIMARS
›Pedestal Mount Stinger System
›M2A2 Bradley Medical Vehicle
›Centurion Land-Based Phalanx System
›BRITE Star
®
II Electro-Optics System
›MX20 Electro-Optics Video Tracker
›USA FCS NLOS-LS (NetFires)
›USMC Expeditionary Fighting Vehicle
›Patriot Missile Air Defense System
›MEADS
In each application, we deploy our proven design strategy that
provides the highest degree of technological performance
throughout the lifecycle of the customer’s program. Wherever
possible, our designs provide for upgrades of the processor
and memory types and speeds without changes to the physical
or electrical characteristics of the board. This “plug-and-play”
technology upgrade capability minimizes requalification delays.
In addition, our Board Support Packages provide a stable
software interface between applications and the underlying
hardware, thus minimizing application software revisions
after upgrades.
GE Intelligent Platforms rugged systems and modules are
currently being used for a wide range of ground vehicle
applications, including:
›Situational awareness
›Launcher control units
›Fire control computers
›Hull/turret computers
›Embedded training
›Integrated display processing
›Target tracking
›Network switch units
›Remote interface units
›SBCs, DSPs, graphics and I/O cards
