3. CONDITION FOR ESTABLISHING FLAT RATE TIMES
Definition of flat rate time
The flat rate time in this manual refer to the time required to perform warranty related services and repair. It consists
of the following.
Composition: Set up time
Flat rate time Net working time
Margin time
Set up time
The time required for set-up, such as:
- Preparing parts, hand tools, special tools, etc.
- Preparing necessary equipment
- Preparing necessary measuring instruments
- Moving the vehicle to and from hoist or wordstall area.
Net working time
The actual time spent on the repair/replacement service. This includes inspection, adjustment and road test as well
as simple diagnosis.
Margin time
The time accompanying the actual working time and time spent for the following:
- Relieving fatigue.
- Cleaning the service shop.
- Others suchas cleaning and toggins of parts.
The specified margin time corresponds to 20% of the net working time.
Working conditions
The following conditions are prerequisites for deternining the net working time:
- The hand tools, special tools and equipment are as specified in Service Manual.
- Tools, equipment, power sources and other supplies are ready to be used.
- The technician is experienced with SANTANA vehicles.
- The work is performed at what is considered to be a normal word pace.
4. TIMES
The flat rate time in this manual for perform warranty releated services and repair, are expressed in hours and tenths
hour.
Examples 0.1 hour = 6 minutes
0.2 ” = 12 ”
0.3 ” = 18 ”
0.4 ” = 24 ”
0.5 ” = 30 ”
0.6 ” = 36 ”
0.7 ” = 42 ”
0.8 ” = 48 ”
0.9 ” = 54 ”
1.0 ” = 60 ”
To convert minutes to the nearest hour and tenths of an horu devide munutes by 60
Example: 1 hour and 20 minutes (80 minutes)
80 ÷ 60 = 1.333 (1.3 hours)
To convert hours and tenths of hour to minutes multiply hours and tenths by 60
Example: 1 hour and 0.3 (1.3)
1.3 x 60 = 78 minutes (1 hour and 18 minutes)
