CHANGING A WHEEL
Before changing a wheel, apply the handbrake and select 1st gear. If
jacking on a slope, place chocks at the front and rear of the wheel
diagonally opposite the one to be removed.
The steel sparewheel and tool kit are stowed in the luggage
compartment.
Positioning the jack
Position the car so that the jackwill bear on firm levelground;
NEVER on soft ground, or overmetal gratingsand manhole covers.
With the door open, insertthe jackhead into the jackingpoint in the
sill (seeillustration).Turn the jackscrew clockwiseuntil the baseof
the jack sitsfirmly on the ground; check that the jack is verticalwith
its head fully inserted into the jacking point.
For Your Safety .........
• If possible, change the
wheel away from the main
thoroughfare.
• Ensure passengers get out
of the car and wait in a safe
area away from other
traffic.
• Use your hazard warning
lights to alert other road
users.
WARNING!
NEVER jack the car with
passengers inside.
NEVER work beneath the
car with the jack as the only
means of support. The jack
is designed for wheel
changing only.
