Canon’s DIGIC II Image Processor
works at the core of every digital
EOS camera, driving fast start-up,
rapid camera performance and the
superb image quality that EOS is
renowned for. DIGIC II has been
specifically designed to perform the
high-speed calculations necessary
for exceptionally accurate colour
reproduction in real time.
With 16.7 Megapixels at 4 fps for
a maximum burst of 32 images, the
EOS-1Ds Mark II's DIGIC II processor
manages to render more than half
a gigabyte of data in just 8 seconds.
DIGIC II operates efficiently so
photographers can shoot for longer
on a single charge: up to 1,200 shots
for both the EOS-1Ds Mark II and
EOS-1D Mark II N under normal
conditions.
White Balance Controls.
The sophisticated image processing
algorithm of DIGIC II delivers
extremely stable white balance (WB)
under every lighting condition.
All three cameras have nine white
balance modes with each colour
correctable by ±9 levels in single level
increments. White balance bracketing
options allow the photographer
to precisely judge the optimal colour
temperature for any shooting
situation. The EOS-1Ds Mark II and
EOS-1D Mark II N also offer three
custom modes for user-defined
settings.
Portrait Photography
I prefer to work with natural light as it brings
true depth and character to my subjects.
This means I demand a lot from my
EOS-1Ds Mark II, and it always responds
brilliantly. The controls are so intuitive, I can
concentrate on building a relationship with my
subject instead of constantly having to think
about adjusting and refining my settings.
The number of focus points I can choose from
gives me a huge amount of scope to place the
subjects exactly where I want them. I love the
effect that Canon's wide aperture lenses give my
photography – I use the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS
USM for 90% of a shoot. A fast lens is paramount
to my photography and if I have to shoot at f2.8
with an ISO of 1600, I know that I can rely on
the quality.
