The GbE2 Storage Connectivity Kit (option) is required for Fibre Channel signal pass-through when using a GbE2
Interconnect Switch Kit. Both Ethernet cable consolidation and Fibre Channel connectivity is possible using a single
interconnect option. Order one GbE2 Storage Connectivity Kit per server blade enclosure for Fibre Channel pass through of
BL20p and BL30p series blades.
The GbE2 Storage Connectivity Kit includes two OctalFC Interconnect Modules that provide sixteen open transceiver cages
for the pluggable small form factor transceivers that come with each BL30p Dual-Port Fibre Channel Adapter (option) and
each BL20p Dual Port Fibre Channel Adapter. The GbE2 Storage Connectivity Kit supports up to eight BL20p series, up to
sixteen BL30p series blades or combinations thereof.

- Provides very economical option enabling the lowest cost blade solution.
- Is completely passive and requires no software or management.

Fibre Channel signals travel from a ProLiant BL20p series and/or BL30p series blades through the server blade enclosure
backplane. Fibre Channel signals are terminated through the RJ-45 Patch Panel 2 or GbE2 Interconnect Switch (with GbE2
Storage Connectivity Kit) in the interconnect bays. To provide redundancy each server blade has two Fibre Channel signals;
one Fibre Channel signal terminates through the right interconnect, the other Fibre Channel signal terminates through the
left interconnect.
Eight Fibre Channel small form factor pluggable (SPF) transceiver cages exist on the front of each RJ-45 Patch Panel 2 and
rear of each GbE2 Interconnect Switch (16 Fibre Channel connections per server blade enclosure). The SPF cages are used
for insertion of SPF transceivers included with the BL20p G2 Dual-port Fibre Channel Mezzanine Card and the BL30p
Dual-Port Fibre Channel Adapter.
