iPod photo
• If the iPod detects a hard drive error during startup, it will launch a diagnostic hard
drive scan and attempt to repair any problems. You will see the icons and progress
bar, shown below. This can take up to 15 to 20 minutes, so plug the iPod to a power
adapter.
When the scan has finished, one of four possible icons will be displayed:
Icon Description
Scan failed and will be repeated the next
time the iPod is turned on.
Scan found no problems.
Some problems found, but was able to
correct some or all of them.
Scan was canceled by user (by holding
down the Select button for approximately
three seconds) and will repeat the next
time the iPod is turned on.
