Chevrolet rolled out a brand
new and very successful
truck body design in
1948, and continued that
design with very little
change through the 1953
model year. 1954 saw the
introduction of a totally new
grille design. When the all-
new truck body style was
not yet ready for production
in early 1955, the ’54 design
was carried over for the
first half of the model year.
The radical new 1955 2nd
Series truck design became
available in the middle of the
1955 model year.
1955 1st Series looks like a
1954 truck, but has an open
drive.
1955 2nd Series has the
same body style as 1956.
1955 1st Series has 2 round
gauge clusters and the 2nd
Series has one cluster in a
“V” shape.
Generally, parts specified as
fitting 1954 will also fit the
1st Series, and parts fitting
“1955-59” would be correct
for the 2nd Series.
