POWER & PERFORMANCE
Ecotec 2.4L SIDI I4 DOHC engine – Standard on all models,
this engine is highly efficient and uses the latest in engine
technology to ensure maximum performance and fuel
economy. Features include Spark Ignition Direct Injection
(SIDI), extensive use of aluminum in its structure and dual
balance shafts to reduce engine-related vibration. Variable
Valve Timing (VVT) is used to enhance efficiency and power
throughout the operating range. The 2.4L engine is rated at:
182 hp @ 6700 rpm.
172 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4900 rpm.
3.6L SIDI V6 engine Available on LT and LTZ. This is the most
powerful V6 engine in this class of vehicle, yet its estimated
fuel economy is the same as the 2012 V6. Features include SIDI
as well as VVT for enhanced power and efficiency. The 3.6L is
rated at:
301 hp @ 6500 rpm.
272 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4800 rpm.
FlexFuel capability The 2.4L engine can be equipped to
run on up to 85% ethanol (E85) with Federal Emissions. E10
capability is standard on the 2.4L.
Outstanding fuel economy – All Equinox models deliver
exceptional fuel economy.
22 city/32 highway mpg (I4 FWD).
– 20 city/29 highway mpg (I4 AWD).
17 city/24 highway mpg (V6 FWD).
– 16 city/23 highway mpg (V6 AWD).
6-speed automatic transmissions – All Equinox models include
a 6-speed automatic transmission. The 4-cylinder models
feature the Hydra-Matic 6T45; V6 models use the Hydra-Matic
6T70. Their features include:
ECO button: Alters shift patterns and powertrain calibration
to provide maximum fuel economy (4-cylinder models).
– Auto-grade braking: The transmission automatically shifts
into a lower gear while braking on a downgrade to help
preserve brake life.
– Electronic controls: Adaptive strategy that allows the
transmission’s controller to “learn” a driver’s driving style
and automatically adjust to each driver’s patterns for
optimum performance and economy.
– Electronic Range Select (ERS): Allows the driver to manually
control the top gear. This is especially helpful when driving
downhill or towing a trailer.
Towing capacity Equinox 4-cylinder models are rated to tow
up to 1500 lbs.; V6 models are able to tow up to 3500 lbs.
RIDE & HANDLING
Rigid architecture The Body Frame Integral (BFI) architecture
provides an extremely rigid and strong platform.
4-wheel independent suspension – MacPherson struts up
front and a multilink suspension in the rear provide fully
independent suspension capabilities.
Ride and Handling Suspension New suspension for 2013
that’s available on the LTZ when equipped with the 3.6L V6
and 18" (RSX) or 19" (RT6) chrome-clad aluminum wheels.
4-wheel disc brakes with Antilock Braking System (ABS) –
Standard on all Equinox models. Includes a hill-hold assist
feature that momentarily prevents Equinox from rolling
backwards when the driver moves their foot from the brake to
the accelerator pedal on inclines.
StabiliTrak – Standard on all models. Provides outstanding
safety and control benefits by automatically correcting
oversteer and understeer conditions to help the driver keep
the vehicle traveling in the path being steered. Includes Roll-
Over Mitigation as well as Trailer Sway Control.
Variable-effort steering systems – 4-cylinder models use an
electric rack-mounted power steering system. V6 models use a
hydraulic assist system.
Electronic on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD) Available on
all Equinox models.
Wheels and tires.
17" aluminum wheels (RSB) standard on all models.
18" chrome-clad aluminum wheels (RSX) available on 2LT
and LTZ models.
– 19" chrome-clad aluminum wheels (RT6) available on
V6 LTZ.
