Audi S8
Performance does not necessarily require higher consumption – as the engine of the new
Audi S8 proves. With the innovative Audi cylinder on demand, it only utilises the concen-
trated power of all eight cylinders when it is actually required. In the event of low driving
resistance, four of the eight cylinders automatically switch off. Thus the S8 continues to
drive in partial load operation, with correspondingly lower fuel consumption and emissions;
however, the comfort and driving dynamics remain unchanged. In order to use the powerfu
l
382-kW output of the 4.0 TFSI power unit even more efficiently, the S8 has additionally
been equipped with a start-stop system and recuperation. This turns it into a luxurious,
high-performance athlete that intelligently utilises power and endurance: for outstanding
dynamic performance with a high level of efficiency.
