Introduction
Welcome to Multi-Tech's new RouteFinder™, Model MTASR3, an IP/IPX router for interconnecting
LANs using switched or dedicated wide area telecommunications links. The RouteFinder is a multi-
port router that provides a single connection to an Ethernet LAN and routes packets over three WAN
links. The RouteFinder can also be configured for frame relay which can use up to 16 virtual WAN
ports.
The RouteFinder provides intelligent IP and IPX routing with MAC-layer bridging for all other
protocols over its WAN ports. This unit is a remote access device that supports up to three
concurrent dial-in sessions and IP or IPX remote access.
The RouteFinder features a 10BaseT or 10Base5 port for local LAN connection, Command Port for
configuration, and three RS232/V.35 ports for asynchronous or synchronous remote WAN
connections using standard point-to-point protocol (PPP). Configurable WAN ports operate with
compatible communication devices operating at up to 115 Kbps for async and T1 for sync speeds.
These related devices include asynchronous and synchronous modems, ISDN terminal adapters and
DDS, Switched 56, Fractional T1 and T1 DSUs.
System management is provided through the command port using bundled Windows
®
based
software which provides easy-to-use configuration menus.
