Shunts
A shunt on each of the Link ports enables the same connector to be configured for either EIA-232C/D
signaling or ITU-T V.35 electrical interface signaling. The EIA-232C/D signaling is intended for data
rates of 19.2 Kbps or less and cable lengths of 50 feet or less. The ITU-T V.35 signaling levels are
generally more reliable for high speed data and/or longer cables. For higher speeds and/or longer
distances, the V.35 is generally preferred.
The RouteFinder has three sets of shunts (Figure 1-5) on the printed circuit board.

The default position of the shunts is the RS232 position. To change the position of a shunt, refer to
the V.35 Shunt procedure in table 2-4.
