It takes a series of integrated safety measures and technologies to earn the highest possible
U.S. government frontal and side-impact crash test ratings.* Silverado earned this distinction
through features that include a 360° safety system that uses a network of collision sensors
around the perimeter of the truck. Other occupant protection equipment includes standard
head curtain side-impact air bags and side guard door beams. Silverado is also engineered to
protect the occupants of smaller vehicles should a collision occur, thanks to the car compatibility
bracket. And the sophisticated OnStar system** with Automatic Crash Response and Automatic
Air Bag Deployment Response is standard on all

HEAD CURTAIN SIDE-IMPACT AIR BAGS WITH ROLLOVER SENSOR
Head curtain side-impact air bags

are standard on all 1500 models. They help reduce the risk of injuries to all
outboard occupants in certain side impacts. When deployed in the unlikely event of a rollover, the air bags remain
infl ated for up to 6 seconds to help reduce the risk of ejection. New for 2010, on 1500 models, are standard driver
and front passenger seat-mounted side-impact air bags that provide additional thorax and pelvic protection.
CAR COMPATIBILITY BRACKET
This horseshoe-shaped bracket is attached to the bottom of the front frame rail on 1500 models. It “grabs” the bumper
of lower-profi le vehicles, such as cars, reducing the risk of Silverado riding up onto the other vehicle in a collision.
PASSENGER SENSING SYSTEM
The Passenger Sensing System, used on 1500 models, detects the weight of the passenger in the right front seat
and automatically suppresses air bag deployment when appropriate.
