While fuel efficiency has continued to increase in importance, there are no shortcuts to fulfilling this objective. An automaker
has to continually undertake the research and development required to produce innovative technologies that make the
most of every litre of fuel. Which is precisely what Buick did in the development of its eAssist
TM
system. It begins with
an already frugal direct-injected 2.4L ECOTEC
®
four-cylinder engine and a six-speed automatic transmission. But the real
breakthrough is the eAssist
TM
technology that encompasses a 15-kW electric motor-generator, 115V lithium-ion battery,
in addition to the ability to replenish battery power through regenerative braking. The motor-generator provides electric
power to complement the gasoline engine power during acceleration. When decelerating, regenerative braking captures
the energy that would otherwise be lost and uses it to help recharge the battery. A Driver Efciency Gauge allows you to
monitor the performance of eAssist
TM
in real time. You can’t help but be impressed with the results: fuel efciency ratings of
just 5.4 L/100 km highway and 8.3 L/100 km city.* The goal of fuel efficiency is achieved intelligently thanks to eAssist
TM
.
A SIGNIFICANT ASSIST IN
FUEL EFFICIENCY.

“ THE RESULT IS IMPROVED FUEL ECONOMY WITHOUT SACRIFICING
PERFORMANCE – A VERY GOOD THING.”
